The Journal page adds a setup, tags, notes and chart images to each closed trade, and breaks your results down so you can see what is working.
Notes on a trade
Open a trade in the journal to give it:
- a setup and tags, used for the breakdowns;
- plain-text notes, up to 10,000 characters;
- chart images, captured from the Trade chart on request. Each image is labelled "Chart as of" the moment the chart was drawn, with its market and timeframe. The desk asks before saving a chart that is more than two minutes old or shows another market.
Leaving a trade with unsaved changes asks first. If another tab changed the same entry, saving is refused until you reload it, so nothing is overwritten silently.
Breakdowns
Filter and group trades by setup, tag, market, side and holding time. Each group shows the number of trades, P&L after fees, win rate, average win and loss, profit factor and mean R.
- The P&L curve steps once per closed trade, with the drawdown from its running peak underneath. Click a point to open that trade.
- The equity curve follows account value over time, with markers for deposits and withdrawals.
- Range buttons (7D, 30D, 90D, 1Y and All) set the period.
Edge report
The Edge report view of the Journal reads your closed trades and says where your money is made and lost, for example that your losing trades are held much longer than your winners, or that one market at one time of day cost you most. It opens once you trade here (after Get started) and needs 20 closed trades.
- A pattern only shows when it passes a statistical test that allows for every pattern tried, covers at least 8 trades on 3 days and still holds without its single biggest day. Weaker ones are listed as early signs.
- Show trades opens the trades behind a finding.
- In the 90-day view each finding is marked New or Still true against last week's report, and says when it holds up on trades made after it was first shown.
- What if replays the same trades with a stop moved to break-even at 1R, a take profit at 2R, or both, on past candles. Your own exits stand until the rule fires; when a candle can't tell which level came first, the replay counts the outcome worse for the rule, and rule exits pay fees and 0.02% slippage. A trade needs its starting stop and candles to be replayed.
- Trades placed here keep their planned stop and one-minute candles, so they replay in full detail. The exchange keeps fine candles for a few days only, so older trades use coarser ones or can't be replayed.
- If you agree, the report is written up in plain words once a day when you have new trades. Only the kinds of patterns are sent, never amounts, dates, your address or notes.
Past results don't predict future ones.
Where it is stored
The journal lives in this browser only, kept per account and network. The storage panel shows how much space it uses: each image is capped at 2 MB and all images together at 100 MB, and it can remove images without touching your notes.
- Export JSON saves every note for the selected account and network; images are not included and download separately as PNG files.
- Import JSON asks whether to keep or replace entries that already exist here.
- CSV exports the filtered trades for a spreadsheet.
Clearing this site's data in the browser deletes the journal. Export it now and then.
